Cyrille Lecoq is celebrating 49 years in music this year! The artist made his way into the music scene at the age of seven.

He started out playing the snare drum in a marching band, then began studying drums at the Agostini School at age 13. As an accomplished drummer, he gradually felt the urge to explore other sounds. Composition entered his life between the ages of fifteen and seventeen, as he discovered the world of melodic and rhythmic percussion. He took numerous courses in traditional music and practiced improvisation extensively. After a stint in Tunisia at the Kairouan Conservatory, he developed his finger technique. It was through profound encounters that he developed his interest in music from all corners of the world. Although he has mastered written musical notation, Cyrille is above all a musician of oral tradition and exchange; his diverse musical influences fuel his inspiration along his journey. In 2022, Cyrille Lecoq was bored. His musical background, which was mainly rhythmic, and his handpans with no more than ten notes, left him unsure of what to do next.
